Adamou Mayaki (June 1919[1] – summer 2003[2][3])[4] be Nigerien politician plus diplomat. E be Foreign Minister of Niger from 1963 go 1965, plus e be leading member of de ruling PPN-RDA party.[5]

Adamou Mayaki born for Filingué insyd June 1919. Ein family come from royal Sudié line, wey be Hausa-speaking subgroup wey govern de town under French colonial rule. Mayaki attend French teachers college for Kati, Mali, become civil engineer, plus e enter politics insyd 1946 as leader of Nigerien Action Bloc (BNA), wey later turn Union of Nigerien Independents and Sympathisers (UNIS), one of de two pre-independence parties wey contest de 1952 territorial elections. Mayaki get elected enter Nigerien Territorial Assembly insyd March 1952 from Maradi, plus dem re-elect am insyd 1956. From 1952, e serve for Grand Council of French West Africa, plus from 1953 as Niger colony ein representative for de French Union. Insyd 1958, after UNIS split, Mayaki get elected enter first Territorial National Assembly under de PPN-RDA-led Union for de Franco-African Community (UCFA). De UCFA be front wey align with PPN, wey support continued membership inside French Community, plus oppose immediate independence wey rival SAWABA party dey push. De 1958 election remove SAWABA from de Assembly, plus Mayaki become key member of Hamani Diori ein first semi-independent Nigerien government.[5]

Mayaki serve as Territory ein Minister of Agriculture from May 1957. After UCFA win, e become Niger ein first Minister of Interior. For December 1958, e become Minister of Economics plus Planning. After full independence insyd 1960, Mayaki become Minister of Commerce plus Industry. For 1963, e take over from President Diori as Foreign Minister of Niger.

After dem declare SAWABA party illegal insyd 1959, SAWABA militants begin launch sabotage attacks plus border raids for 1964 and 1965. In response, de PPN begin move some members wey before belong to rival parties, including Mayaki. Mayaki become Nigerien ambassador to de United States from 1965 go 1970. Later, e serve as prefect of Dosso Region (wey dem dey call “department” that time), plus insyd 1973 e become president of de Nigerien state trucking company, de SNTN. Wen dem overthrow de First Republic during de 1974 Nigerien coup d’état, Mayaki manage retain one government post as Secretary to de Nigerien Ministry of Finance. E retire insyd 1976.[5]
