Adenike Osofisan (born 11 March 1950) be Nigerian academician wey be computer scientist, wey specialize for data mining den knowledge management. She be de first Nigerian woman wey hold Ph.D. for Computer Science, achievement wey she get for 1989. For 2006, she become full professor for University of Ibadan, promotion wey make am de first African woman wey become Computer Science professor.[1]

Early life den education

Osofisan do ein secondary school for Fiwasaiye Girls' Grammar School, Akure den Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro (1968). Between 1971 den 1976, she get ein first degree from University of Ile-Ife, wey she dey enjoy federal government scholarship for most of ein university years. Later, for 1978, she go Georgia Institute of Technology, wer she get master’s degree for Information and Computer Science insyd 1979. Ein PhD thesis on Data Processing Model for a Multi-access Computer Communication Network she plete am for 1989 for Obafemi Awolowo University under de supervision of Adebayo Akinde. For 1993, she fini ein Master of Business Administration for Accounts den Finance from University of Ibadan, plus dissertation on An Asset Portfolio Management Model for Nigerian Commercial Banks: A Case Study. She graduate as de best MBA student for dat year.[2]

Lecturing Career

Osofisan start ein lecturing career for The Polytechnic, Ibadan insyd 1979. Within few years, she rise cam be dean of Faculty of Science for de same school. For 1999, she join University of Ibadan wey she immediately begin dey serve as acting head of Department of Computer Science. By 2003, she get promotion to associate professor. For 2006, she bag full professor chair. She sanso do visiting professor work for Lagos State University.

Member Board of Trustees for Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA).

Former member of Nigeria Mathematical Centre den Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) Councils, wey now she still dey serve as current member.

Member of dema Academic Boards.

She sanso be Member of Africa Academic Board of SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing).

Right now, Adenike dey serve as Director of University of Ibadan School of Business (UISB) as de foundation Director. For July 2017, she get elected as de First Female Provost of Nigeria Computer Society College of Fellows.

From 2005 to 2009, she cam be de first female president den chairperson of governing council of "Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria".[4] On June 10, 2019, dem induct am into Nigeria Women Hall of Fame for Abuja.

Following de economic recession wey happen secof Nigeria dey over-depend on petroleum exports den dollar price dey fall, Osofisan advise Nigerian government make dem use de ICT sector well, since e get plenty contribution to give de economy if dem invest properly. She talk say even plus de challenges wey dey, de sector still create about 12 million jobs between 2012 den 2016. She give dis remark for de 9th Annual Forum of Laureates of de Nigerian National Order of Merit wey happen for Abuja.[6]
