Ian Frederick Adukwei Hesse, MRCP (Lond) be a Ghanaian academic, physician den a Presbyterian minister. He be on de faculty at de Department of Physiology at de University of Ghana Medical School, a consultant physician as well as a co-founder den de Vice President of Accra College of Medicine. He formerly be assistant secretary den later vice-president of de Ghana Medical Association. He be an ordained minister of de Presbyterian Church of Ghana. He be involved insyd prison reform den ministry insyd Ghana.
Early life den education
[edit | edit source]A member of de notable Hesse family, Hesse dey have ein secondary education at Achimota School from 1965 to 1971, wey he obtain ein GCE Ordinary den Advanced Level certificates. Na he enter de University of Ghana Medical School directly without a pre-medical course due to ein superior performance insyd de final examinations. He dey obtain ein Bachelor of Science insyd physiology insyd 1975, den ein bachelor of medicine den bachelor of surgery (MBChB) certificate insyd 1978. While at de University of Ghana Medical School, he dey serve as secretary of de Ghana Medical School Students Association den actively participate insyd demonstrations organised by student bodies opposing de "unigov" concept of governance during de Acheampong regime. He enroll at de University of Birmingham, Birmingham, United Kingdom insyd 1980 den be awarded ein doctorate degree (PhD) insyd 1983.[1][2]

[edit | edit source]He return to Ghana after ein stint insyd de United Kingdom den join the staff of de University of Ghana Medical School as a lecturer insyd de Physiology department den de department of Medicine den Therapeutics. Insyd 1995 he be promoted to senior lecturer status at de departments of Physiology, den Medicine den Therapeutics. A year later he be made head of de Physiology department of de University of Ghana Medical School.[3] He serve insyd dat capacity for two years. He become an associate professor of physiology, den Medicine den Therapeutics from 2002 until 2005 when he become a chief executive of de Executive Healthcare den Consult. He subsequently become a part-time lecturer (associate professor) at de Physiology, den Medicine den Therapeutics department of de University of Ghana Medical School. He co-establish den currently be de vice-president of be Accra College of Medicine.
Medical profession
[edit | edit source]He work insyd various hospitals after completing ein graduate studies at de University of Birmingham until 1987 when he officially become a member of de Royal College of Surgeons, London. Upon ein return to Ghana insyd 1988 he join de Department of Medicine at de Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital as a consultant physician. A year later dem make him an assistant secretary of de Ghana Medical Association, he serve insyd dat capacity until 1992. Insyd 1995 he be vice-president of de association den head of de chest department at de Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, a position he hold for three years. Dat same year, he join de National Tuberculosis Program as a member of ein advisory board. Insyd 1999 he become a member of de Technical Working Group of de National Tuberculosis Control Programme. Insyd 2005 he become de Chief Executive of de Executive Health Care den Consult. He be de founder of de Ghana Asthma Society.

Personal life
[edit | edit source]He be married to Dr. Afua Adwo Jectey Hesse; a surgeon den a gender advocate den they have four children.[9] She formerly be de chief executive officer of de Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.[9][10] Some of Adukwei ein interests include music. He play viola for de Achimota School Orchestra. He sana be a member of de Aggrey Memorial Chapel Choir at Achimota School, den de Accra Ridge Church Choir.
