Alhassan Azong (born 18 December 1965) be Ghanaian politician and Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa South constituency. He san serve as Minister of State insyd de Mills government between 2009 den 2013.[1]
Early life
[edit | edit source]Dem born Azong on 18 December 1965. He come from Wiesi insyd Upper East Region of Ghana. For 1996, he acquire de ACIS qualification. He later attend Paris Graduate School of Management where he obtain ein MBA. After dat, he become lecturer for Bolgatanga Polytechnic, wey be de position he hold until he enter politics.[1]
Politics
[edit | edit source]Azong first contest Builsa South seat insyd December 2008 general election on de ticket of de People’s National Convention (PNC), and he win by narrow margin of 59 votes (0.5%).[2] For Parliament, he serve on de Committee on Members Holding Offices of Profit, de Education, Youth, Sports and Culture Committee, plus de Standing Orders Committee.[3] Insyd de next election insyd December 2012, ein majority increase to 6,048 votes (47.12%),[4] wey make am de only PNC Member of Parliament wey enter de 6th Parliament of de Fourth Republic of Ghana.
Even though he no be member of de National Democratic Congress (NDC), President John Atta Mills appoint am as Minister of State responsible for Public Sector Reform from 2009 to 2013.[5] Insyd 2013, Presido John Mahama renominate am to continue serve for de same portfolio under ein administration.[6]
