Aloysie Cyanzayire be lawyer, judge, public servant, den former president of de Supreme Court of Rwanda. Currently, she dey serve ein second term as Supreme Court justice. She be de first female president of de Supreme Court for Rwanda ein history.

Personal life

Dem born am for February 11, 1964. Cyanzayire grow up for de Ruhango District for de Southern Province of Rwanda. She be de oldest for inside Christian family of eight wey demma parents be farmers.[1][2] Since dat time, she dey talk openly say she be person of faith.[3][4]

Education

She go one of Rwanda ein first science schools wey dem build give only girls, where she get ein scientific background. She get BA for law from de National University of Rwanda for 1989. Afta dat, dem appoint am as Judge of de Court of First Instance where she serve for one year. She return go school again for two more years, from 1991 go 1993, for de International Section of de National School of Magistrates for Paris.[1]

During de 1994 Rwandan Civil War, she serve as judge for de Southern Province city of Butare. When de fight stop, Cyanzayire take care of three orphans; two of dem be ein brother-in-law ein children wey dem kill during de genocide.[2]

From 1995 go 2000, she serve for chaw roles for de Ministry of Justice. First, she be Director of Public Prosecutions den Relations plus de Judicial Services, then Director of Legal Drafting, den finally Secretary-General for de Ministry. She also work as adviser for de state broadcaster, Office Rwandais d’Information.[2]

For 2000, de Rwandan parliament elect am make she head de local system for post-genocide reconciliation courts (Gacaca). She get 44 votes out of 52 wey ein opponent. Jean-Marie Vianney Rusaku receive three votes.

Dat same year, dem appoint am as one of six Deputy Chief Justices for de Supreme Court, wey dat time she focus ein work for post-war conciliation. Cyanzayire play big role to establish de post-genocide reconciliation courts, wey dem dey call Gacaca courts. Dem model dis courts afta traditional Rwandan ways of judging cases, wey dem encourage am say make e help reduce de heavy load wey dey de judiciary top den bring healing to de community. For inside speech for de National Summit of Unity and Reconciliation for 2002, she talk about de work wey church leaders dey do when dem visit detainees for prison. She try encourage religious organizations say make dem help de state for dema efforts to get support give de Gacaca court.

For December 2003, de Rwandan senate elect am as de fifth president den first female president of de Supreme Court of Rwanda. She serve full eight-year term from 2004 go 2012. During dis time, she also be de chairperson for de High Council of de Judiciary. For 2014, she take over from Tito Rutaremara as Chief Ombudsman, position wey she hold until 2017. For 2018, de cabinet vote say make dem reappoint am as Supreme Court justice for de second time; position wey she still hold today.

People recognize Cyanzayire for ein work for law den public service. She win Appreciation Award from de East African Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities sake of how she take fight corruption. When she be Chief Ombudsman, she get name as anti-corruption campaigner. For 2017, she lead Rwanda ein "Anti-Corruption Week" wey she tell de youth say make dem learn how to fight bad practice.

Cyanzayire also use ein platform take encourage government officials say make dem promote gender equality. She talk say dem for protect men demma rights too because she wan see "society wey balance well-well."[5] For 2011, she get Recognition Certificate from de Women Leaders Network in collaboration with de Ministry of Gender den Family Promotion during some event wey de Rwanda First Lady, Jeannette Kagame give keynote address. Plus ein good friend for Law school for National University of Rwanda, Solina Nyirahabimana. Cyanzayire encorage chaw women make dem join de Rwandan judiciary particularly from ein tenure as chairperson of de High Council of Judiciary.
