Altaf Mahmud
Altaf Mahmud (dem born am 23 December 1933 – he die September 1971) na he be musician, cultural activist, den martyred freedom fighter of de Bangladesh Liberation War. Na he be language activist of de Language Movement den composer of "Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano", de famous song wey he rep so say dem go take commemorate de event. De government of Bangladeshaward am plus Ekushey Padak insyd 1977 den Independence Day Award insyd 2004 posthumously.[1]
Ein Early life
[edit | edit source]Dem born Altaf Mahmud insyd Patarchar village of Muladi thana under Bakerganj (wey now be Barisal, Bangladesh). He plete ein matriculation from Barisal Zilla School. Dem Mahmud admit for BM College before he go Kolkata go learn painting for Calcutta Arts School.[1] Mahmud start dey sing as na he be school boy. He first learn music from famous violin player Suren Roy. He learn sing gana sangit (menners demma song - people's song), wey bring ampopularity for dat tym insyd.
Ein Career
[edit | edit source]Mahmud cam Dhaka insyd 1950 wey he join insyd Dhumketu Shilpi Shongho. Later he cam turn music director give institution. Insyd 1956, dem invite Mahmud say make he go Vienna Peace Conference. But he no fi go secof de government seize ein passport for Karachi. For der, he stay till 1963 wey he take talim of classical music go Ustad Abdul Kader Khan. He sana associate ein body plus dance director Ghanashyam den music director Debu Bhattacharya. After he return from Karachi go Dhaka, Mahmud work insyd 19 different films. Along plus de famous Jibon Theke Neya, he sana work insyd films like Kaise Kahu, Kar Bau, den Tanha. He sana still associate ein body plus politics den different cultural organizations. In addition plus talent insyd music, na Mahmud sana be fluent insyd painting.

Along plus ein singing, Mahmud continue say he go support de movement. He compose de music give de song Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano insyd 1969, for Zahir Raihan ein film Jibon Theke Neya insyd.
Mahmud take part for de Bangladesh Liberation War insyd 1971. He create sam secret camp insyd ein house for de freedom fighters. As dem reveal location of dis camp, de Pakistan Army catch am for 30 August 1971 insyd. Dem torture Mahmud, wey de Pakistan Army capture chao other guerrilla fighters like Shafi Imam Rumi for dat day insyd.[2]
