Alvin Botes (born 9 September 1973) be South African politician wey dey under African National Congress (ANC) plus he come from Northern Cape. Since May 2019, he dey serve as Deputy Minister for International Relations and Cooperation. He enter Parliament as Member of de National Assembly from February 2018.

Botes serve as Member for Northern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2009 go 2018. From 2009 to 2013, he be MEC (Member of de Executive Council) for Social Development. Then from 2013 to 2018, he move go MEC for Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs.

Early life den education

Dem born Botes on 9 September 1973. He get bachelor's degree for technology insyd business administration, post-graduate diploma for public and development management, plus national diploma for management from Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Right now, Botes dey study for master's degree inside management for University of de Witwatersrand.

Political career

Later on, Botes join ANC party. Between 1999 den 2009, he work as de party ein provincial head for policy, research and analysis — full ten years. For dat same period, he dey active inside de party ein youth league. First, dem elect am as provincial treasurer for de youth league before he become de provincial chairperson.[1] From 2003 go 2009, he serve as member for national executive committee for de youth league. He sanso be deputy secretary for de provincial ANC setup from 2008 go 2017.[2]

Insyd 2009 election wey happen 22 April, Botes win seat enter Northern Cape Provincial Legislature. He start work officially on 6 May 2009. De Premier, Hazel Jenkins, appoint am MEC for Social Development. Then insyd June 2013, newly elected Premier Sylvia Lucas appoint am MEC for Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs.[3]

Insyd December 2017, Botes get elect as one from 80 members go ANC National Executive Committee (NEC). Insyd February 2018, dem swear am in as Member of National Assembly — even though first he no gree make dem redeploy am.[4][5]

Insyd May 2019, President Cyril Ramaphosa appoint Botes as Deputy Minister for International Relations and Cooperation. He dey serve alongside Candith Mashego-Dlamini, plus Naledi Pandor be de minister for de department.[6]

Botes try win back ein seat as member of ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) for de party ein 55th National Conference wey happen for December 2022, but he no succeed. Still, de next month, dem co-opt am back into de ANC NEC as part of de party ein move to increase representation of minority groups for de highest decision-making body between party conferences.[7]
