John Andile Mngxitama be South African politician wey dey serve as Member of Parliament for de newly formed UMkhonto WeSizwe Party insyd de 7th Parliament. Before dis one, e bin serve as president of de Black First Land First party from October 2015 go reach November 2023. Plus dat, e bin be member of de Economic Freedom Fighters, den e serve as Member of de National Assembly of South Africa for de party from May 2014 till dem expel am insyd April 2015.

Economic Freedom Fighters

Mngxitama join de Economic Freedom Fighters during dem early days insyd 2013, den dem rank am number ten for de party ein national candidate list insyd de May 2014 general election.[1] Dem swear am in as Member of de National Assembly on 21 May 2014, den for June 2014 dem assign am to de Portfolio Committee on Rural Development den Land Reform.[1]

Insyd de EFF ein leadership conference wey happen insyd December 2014, Mngxitama no gree accept nomination to serve for de party ein Central Command Team.[2] After dat, e start bore plus de new leadership of de party. Insyd February 2015, e accuse de party leader Julius Malema and ein former deputy wey now be MK party member, Floyd Shivambu, say dem make secret deal plus de African National Congress to comot seven EFF MPs. Then on 13 April, dem expel Mngxitama from EFF, den e lose ein seat for Parliament based on section 47(3)(c) of de Constitution.[1][3]

Black First Land First

Insyd October of dat same year, Mngxitama form de Black First Land First (BLF) party. De party take strong stance to support Jacob Zuma and de Gupta family. Then for July 2017, some emails come out wey show say Mngxitama dey take instructions from de Guptas and dem PR company Bell Pottinger.[4][5] After dat, Bell Pottinger chop five-year suspension from de British Public Relations and Communications Association for “exploiting and creating racial divisions for South Africa”.[6]

De BLF party think say dem go take part for de 2016 municipal elections,[7] but dem no contest. Mngxitama be strong supporter of de Gupta family wey dey centre of state capture issue for South Africa. When de “Gupta Leaks” emails come out, e show how de family dey involved for corruption and dey manipulate South African politics. Inside dem same leaks, e show say Mngxitama beg de Gupta family for money to support BLF.[8]

De BLF contest de May 2019 general election but dem no win any seat for parliament or any of de nine provincial legislatures.[9] For July, de Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) cancel de party ein registration after Freedom Front Plus appeal.[10] De BLF appeal de judgement but for November dem uphold am.[11]

Insyd January 2024, Mngxitama announce say e join Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) party, but e talk say BLF no go stop to exist. E call am electoral pact.[12]

Accusation of hate speech

Insyd 8 December 2018, Mngxitama give speech to BLF supporters for Tlokwe, Potchefstroom, where e talk say, “We go kill de white man ein children, we go kill demma women, we go kill anything wey we meet for road,” den “for every one black person, we go kill five white people.” E make de crowd follow am repeat, ask say, “Dem kill one of us, we go kill how many?”, den de crowd respond, “Five!” Dis be after Johann Rupert ein comment four days before, where Rupert talk say ein get “own army” wey people go remember “when those red guys come” – likely referring to Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) members wey dey wear red berets.

Three days later, on 11 December, BLF hold press conference. Mngxitama talk say de videos wey people dey share no get full context, say ein words be reaction to perceived threat say Rupert go unleash “black-on-black violence.”

Then insyd 2 May 2023, Equality Court dismiss AfriForum ein complaint against Mngxitama and de BLF. Dem judge say de complainants “fall far short” in showing say ein comments fit count as hate speech under de guidelines inside PEPUDA (Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act).[13]
