Anita Asiimwe be a Rwandan public health expert plus more dan 20 years of experience as a leader insyd de country ein healthcare sector. She serve as a board member at de Global Fund, wey she contribute to global health strategies. She be a former Minister of State insyd de Rwandan Ministry of Health. Since 2023 she serve as Management Sciences for Health’s Chief of Party of de USAID Ireme Activity.[1]
Career
[edit | edit source]Dr. Asiimwe be a medical doctor wey dey hold a master’s insyd public health from de University of Dundee insyd de United Kingdom.[2]
From 2005 to 2013, she, along plus ein colleagues, spearhead de creation of new agencies wey dem co-lead existing ones responsible for setting strategies insyd various infectious disease areas den non-communicable diseases (NCDs) insyd Rwanda. Dese agencies include de Treatment and Research AIDS Centre, de National AIDS Control Commission, den de Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC).
Insyd February 2013, dem swear am insyd as Minister of State in charge of Public Health den Primary Health Care. During ein tenure, she lead efforts to build a strong, people-centered health system, wey dey promote de delivery of preventive, curative, den rehabilitative health services.
From October 2017, Dr. Asiimwe serve as de Coordinator give de National Early Childhood Development Program, wer she lead de development den implementation of national early childhood development strategies wey she oversee ein transition to de Rwanda National Child Development Agency, wer she serve as Director General til July 2021. During dis tenure, dem designate Dr Asiimwe as de Government of Rwanda Human Capital Development focal point, thru wich she play a key role in enhancing multi-sectoral collaboration across sectors. Dr. Asiimwe join Management Sciences for Health insyd 2023 as de Chief of Party for de USAID Ireme Activity, a health system strengthening initiative insyd Rwanda.
Dr. Asiimwe serve as a Global Fund Board member[3] wey dey represent de Eastern den Southern Africa Constituency den Vice-Chair of de Global Fund Board Strategy, Investment, den Impact Committee.[4] She be a founding member den former Board member[5] of de Africa Constituency Bureau, wich dey support African leadership in advocating for increased resources den dey ensure meaningful African participation insyd global health discussions at de Global Fund to fight HIV den AIDS, TB den malaria.
