Anthony Matumba be South African politician wey don dey serve as Member of de National Assembly of South Africa since January 2022. E be member of Economic Freedom Fighters, den e dey serve insyd de party ein Central Command Team, wey be de highest decision-making body. Before dat, e be councillor for Makhado Local Municipality.

Political career

Matumba be member of de Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party. Insyd 2016, dem elect am as councillor for EFF insyd Makhado Local Municipality insyd Limpopo. Dem elect am again as additional member of EFF ein Central Command Team structure, wey be de party ein highest decision-making body between congresses, for de EFF ein elective conference insyd December 2019.[1]

Insyd July 2020, one investigation from Digital Forensic Lab (DFRLab) link de Tracy Zille Twitter account, wey dem use dey spread racist plus insulting content den dey harass black women, to Matumba.[2] E come show say Matumba dey collect income from de hateful comments wey e dey post for Twitter through some companies wey e get den register, wey Twitter users dey redirected go.[3] But Matumba deny say e be de one wey dey control de Twitter account. De South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) then carry Matumba go Equality Court after dem receive complaint from one member of de public. De court hear de case on 27 July 2021,[4] but dem postpone am go August 2021 on 29 July.[5]

Parliament

De Equality Court case suppose continue on 26 January 2022, but dem postpone am make Matumba fit take ein oath as EFF Member of de National Assembly. Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula be de one wey lead de swearing-insyd ceremony.[6][7][8]
