Alhaji Asoma Abu Banda (sana spell Asumah Banda) be Ghanaian businessman den philanthropist. He be chairman den Chief Executive Officer of Antrak Group of Companies.[1][2][3][4] He be de first Chancellor of de University of Education, Winneba, wey he serve from 2010 go 2023.[5][6]

Early life den education

Dem born Banda insyd June 1933 den he come from Kintampo wey dey de former Brong Ahafo Region, now part of Bono East Region. He attend Government Boys School for Kumasi. Later, he go London where he get ein Ordinary Level and Advanced Level certificates plus diploma in Marketing/Sales Management.[7]

Career

Insyd 2010, Banda be Chancellor of de University of Education, Winneba.[8]

He be Executive Chairman of Antrak Air; Executive Chairman of Antrak Express Limited; President of Ship Owners and Agents Association of Ghana; den board chairman of Meridian Port Services Limited. Banda sana serve as board member for Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Ghana Maritime Authority, plus de Ghana Shippers’ Council.[9]

Political career

Banda be member of Convention People's Party (CPP). He sana be former chairman of de People's Convention Party. He be former member of de Council of State too.[10][11]

Insyd 2013, ein wife Cassandra Aisha Banda file for divorce. He get second wife by name Edwina Baaba Coussey Banda. He get two sons—Fadel Asuma Banda den Jamel Banda. He sana get two sisters—Hajia Shatta Abu Banda den Hajia Meeli Banda. In total, he get twelve kiddies.[12]

Banda be Muslim. He die for Accra on 1 March 2025, wey he be 92 years old.[13][14]
