Chinedum Peace Babalola (née Anyabuike) FAS, FAAS be Nigerian Professor of Pharmaceutical chemistry den Pharmacokinetics. She dey teach pharmacy for University of Ibadan, FAS, den FAAS,[1] wey she serve as vice-chancellor of Chrisland University from 2017 reach 2024.[2]

Babalola get Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) degree for 1983, Master of Science for Pharmaceutical Chemistry for 1987, den Doctor of Philosophy for Pharmaceutical Chemistry (Pharmacokinetics option) for 1997 from University of Ife, wey now be Obafemi Awolowo University. She win World Bank/NUC scholarship for staff training wey she plete ein pre-doctoral fellowship for University of British Columbia between 1994 den 1995.[3][4]

Insyd 2012, Babalola earn postgraduate Diploma for Industrial Pharmacy Advanced Training (IPAT) wey Kilimanjaro School of Pharmacy for Tanzania den Purdue University for USA issue togeda.[5]

Career

Babalola start ein academic career as Junior Trainee/Graduate Assistant for Obafemi Awolowo University insyd 1985.[6] For 1994, she move go University of British Columbia to complete pre-doctoral fellowship. She rise reach Lecturer I for Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Obafemi Awolowo University before she join University of Ibadan as Senior Lecturer insyd 1998. By October 2006, Babalola cam be University of Ibadan first female Professor of Pharmacy.[7]

Since 2002,[8] Babalola dey work as adjunct Researcher for Institute of Advanced Medical Research and Training[9] (IAMRAT) under Genetic & Bioethics Research Unit; College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. Na de same unit she head from 2010 reach 2012.[10]

Before dem appoint Babalola as Vice Chancellor for Chrisland University, she serve as de first female Dean for Faculty of Pharmacy University of Ibadan (2013–2017),[11] wey she sanso be adjunct Professor for Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Olabisi Onabanjo University.[12] She be two-term Director of General Studies (2005–2010)[13] for University of Ibadan. She be de first pharmacist wey dem appoint as specialist adviser den consultant for Nigerian hospital—University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.[14] From 2018 to 2019, she spend thirteen months as Doctor of Pharmacy for University of Benin.[15] Insyd 2024, Babalola fini ein role as Principal Investigator for de USAID sponsored USP PQM+ project wey dey promote Quality of Medicines for LMIC insyd CDDDP, UI core-flex (a cooperative agreement – $160M Global).[16]

From 2017 reach 2024, Babalola serve as vice-chancellor for Chrisland University, Abeokuta wey dey Ogun State.[17][18]

Since she cam be professor, Babalola supervise hundreds of undergraduate students den over 30 postgraduate students (PGD, MSc, M.Phil. & PhD). She get more dan 150 scholarly articles for academic journals plus books, book chapters, conference abstracts den monographs.[19]

Babalola research focus be ethics of human research, pharmacogenetics, clinical trials, drug interaction PK/PD, den non-communicable diseases like sickle cell disease den cancer. She develop High-performance liquid chromatography method wey dem dey use analyze quinine for biometrics. Dis method help show de pharmacokinetics of quinine. Ein feasibility studies on drug interactions den metabolism show say sam antibiotics dey lose bio-availability den bacterial activity wen dem combine plus certain anti-malaria drugs.[21]

Ein report on how Nigerians dey use proguanil show say sam Nigerians dey carry mutant CYP2C19 genes, wey dem no dey metabolize drug well.[22]
