Clarence Thomas Delgado (born insyd Dakar insyd 1953) be a Senegalese film director, film producer, screenwriter den camera operator.[1]
Biography
[edit | edit source]Na dem born Delgado insyd Dakar to a family wey dey originate insyd Cape Verde wey he go primary den secondary school insyd Dakar.[2] He join ein uncle first insyd Switzerland den later insyd Portugal, wer na ein uncle be Senegalese ambassador. Delgado then work as a camera operator for de Algerian Radio Television Center (Radiodiffusion-télévision algérienne, RTA) insyd 1977 wey he study directing den production for de Portuguese Cinema Institute insyd Lisbon. After he return to Senegal, he assist Paulin Soumanou Vieyra make dem make ein movie En résidence surveillé (Under house arrest, 1981).[2]
Later, na Delgado be assistant director give chaw short den feature films,[3] wey dey include Camp de Thiaroye (Ousmane Sembène, 1987), Les Caprices d'un rivière (Bernard Giraudeau, 1996) den Moolaadé (Ousmane Sembène, 2004), wey he produce L'Appel des arènes (Cheikh Ndiaye, 2005).[2] He wrep de scenario den direct ein feature film Niiwam (1988), an adaptation of a short story by Ousmane Sembène, wich na dem award de OCIC Award for de 1991 Amiens International Film Festival. Na Clarence Delgado be a presido of de Cinéastes Sénégalais Associés organisation (Associated Senegalese Filmmakers, CINESEAS).[2][4][5]
