Coeliac disease (Commonwealth English) anaa celiac disease (American English) be a chronic autoimmune disease, mainly wey dey affect de small intestine, wey be caused by de consumption of gluten. Symptoms fi be divided into two subtypes, classic den non-classic. Non-classic coeliac disease be more commonly dem see insyd adults wey e be characterized by vague abdominal symptoms den complications insyd organs outsyd of de gastrointestinal tract, such as bone disease, anemia, den oda consequences of nutritional deficiencies.

Coeliac disease be caused by an abnormal immune system response to gluten, dem find insyd wheat den oda grains such as barley den rye. Wen an individual plus a genetic predisposition to de condition dey consume gluten, e dey trigger an inflammatory response insyd de small intestine, wey dey damage de intestinal lining, wey dey lead to malabsorption.
