CATPC, an acronym give ‘Cercle d’Art des Travailleurs de Plantation Congolaise’ insyd French dey translate to ‘Congolese Plantation Workers Art League’ insyd English. Dem found am insyd 2014 by a group of Congolese plantation workers in collaboration plus Congolese environmental activist den founder of Greenpeace Congo René Ngongo, CATPC dey operate as an art cooperative. CATPC dey base insyd Lusanga, dem formerly know as Leverville, Unilever ein first plantation insyd de Democratic Republic of the Congo.[1] Insyd 2017, CATPC build an art center dem name White Cube Lusanga.
CATPC dey specialize insyd clay sculptures, dem reproduce insyd Europe dey use materials such as cacao den palm oil, common products dem derive from plantations. CATPC be critical of de plantation system, an extractive den exploitative colonial construct plus dangerous labor conditions, low wages, den environmental devastation among ein faults.
