De name Damba dey insyd Dagbani. Oda variations dey include Damma insyd Mampruli den Jingbenti insyd Waali. Dem dey celebrate de festival insyd de month of Damba, de third month of Dagomba calendar. De purpose of de festival be make dem celebrate de rich heritage, history den chieftaincy of Dagbon den related kingdoms. Dagbon be de birthplace of centralized kingdoms, chieftaincy den royalty insyd both Ghana den Burkina Faso. De month of Damba sanso dey correspond to de third month of de Islamic calendar, Rabia al-Awwal. Na dem first celebrate Damba make dem mark de birth den naming of Muhammad, buh na de purpose of celebration largely change to glorify heritage den chieftaincy. Activities

On de 11th day of de month, de “Somo” Damba start, wey be followed by de ‘Naa’ (Kings) Damba on de 17th day. Dem dey conclude am plus “bielkulsi”,[5] wich be de climax of de celebration, coming off on de 18th of de month of Damba.[6] Within dis period, dem dey offer prayers to ancestors, drumming den dancing, families pay visits to paddies den exchange gifts.[7] De festival sanso dey include Binchera Damba, wer young people wear worn out buh fashionable smocks, den Shinkaafa Gahimbu (picking of rice)
