Daniel Kablan Duncan (born 30 June 1943) be one Ivorian politician. He serve as Prime Minister of Ivory Coast from 11 December 1993 go 24 December 1999, den again from November 2012 go January 2017. He sanso serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs from June 2011 go November 2012. Duncan be de first Vice President of Ivory Coast after dem bring back dat office, from January 2017 until 13 July 2020.

Daniel Kablan Duncan wey dem born insyd Ouelle on 30 June 1943[1] complete ein secondary plus tertiary school for France. He go Lycée Montaigne insyd Bordeaux. He study insyd École des Hautes Etudes Commerciales for Lille plus École Supérieure de Commerce back insyd Bordeaux. He get business engineering degree from Commercial Institute of Nancy.

Insyd 1970, Duncan return go Ivory Coast den start work as civil servant insyd Ivorian Ministry of Economy plus Finance. Few years later, he work for short time plus International Monetary Fund den Central Bank of West African States. He hold dat position till 1990 before he enter politics.

Daniel Kablan Duncan serve as Minister of Economy plus Finance under Prime Minister Alassane Ouattara from November 1990 go December 1993.[2] After President Félix Houphouët-Boigny die insyd 7 December 1993, Ouattara lose power struggle to Henri Konan Bédié for de presidency; Ouattara resign, den Duncan take over as prime minister. When he become prime minister, he still dey control finance. He talk say he go continue Ouattara ein economic policies of austerity plus privatization.[3]

Duncan serve as prime minister for six years, until 24 December 1999 when President Henri Konan Bédié get remove through military coup. As de coup happen, Duncan flee go France but he come back to Ivory Coast about one year later.

Daniel Kablan Duncan get appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs by President Alassane Ouattara insyd 1 June 2011. After more than one year for dat post, insyd 21 November 2012, dem appoint am to replace Jeannot Ahoussou-Kouadio as prime minister. Like Ahoussou-Kouadio, Duncan be member of Democratic Party of Côte d'Ivoire (PDCI), wey Bédié dey head, plus wey dey ally plus President Ouattara ein party, Rally of de Republicans (RDR).[4] Dem announce de composition of ein government insyd 22 November 2012. Duncan, apart from ein role as prime minister, san take charge of de ministerial portfolio for finance plus economy. Meanwhile, Charles Koffi Diby wey serve as Minister of Finance for de previous government, take Duncan ein place as Minister of Foreign Affairs.[5]

After Alassane Ouattara win de re-election insyd October 2015, Duncan plus ein government resign insyd 6 January 2016, but Ouattara reappoint am again sharp-sharp as prime minister.[6]

Insyd December 2016 parliamentary election, Duncan get elect go National Assembly as RHDP ruling coalition candidate for Grand-Bassam, wey he win 87.46% of de votes. After de election, insyd 9 January 2017, Duncan submit ein formal resignation as prime minister. Ouattara then appoint am as Vice-President of Ivory Coast, one post wey de 2016 constitution create, insyd 10 January; de same day, he appoint Amadou Gon Coulibaly to replace Duncan as prime minister. Duncan officially take oath insyd 16 January 2017.[7]
