David Asibi Ayindenaba Apasera be Ghanaian politician. He be de presidential candidate for People's National Convention (PNC) insyd de 2020 Ghanaian general election. He serve as Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga constituency insyd Upper East Region of Ghana from 2001 to 2009.

Parliamentary elections

Apasera first contest election insyd 1996 Ghanaian general election, where he stand for Bolgatanga constituency seat on de ticket of People's National Convention (PNC). He come second plus about 21% of de votes. However, for de 2000 election, he beat de incumbent MP, Simon Abingya of de National Democratic Congress (NDC), to win de seat. He become Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga plus 50.9% of de votes den a majority of 7,575. Apasera retain ein seat for 2004 general election, winning 38.6% of de total votes cast, but ein majority reduce to 2,205 votes. He be one of six MPs from PNC den CPP, plus one independent MP, wey go into alliance plus NPP for Parliament insyd 2005. Insyd 2008 general election, he come third behind Emmanuel Akolbire of NDC den Mercy Alima Musah of de New Patriotic Party (NPP), plus 20.1% of de total votes cast. Dis bring ein tenure as Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga to an end on 6 January 2009, marking de end of de fourth parliament of de Fourth Republic.[3]

Before de 2012 election, dem reconfigure de Bolgatanga constituency into Bolgatanga Central den Bolgatanga East constituencies. Apasera beat Rockson Akugre by 100 votes to 83 to win de PNC nomination to contest Bolgatanga East seat. However, he no win de seat—he come third plus 13.1% of de votes. Before de 2016 election, Apasera contest de PNC primaries again for Bolgatanga East seat. But dispute rise between am den Bernard Mornah, wey be de PNC chairman at dat time. Apasera accuse Mornah say he delete ein name from de list wey de party submit give de Electoral Commission of Ghana.[4][5] In de end, Apasera no make it onto de ballot paper.[6][7]

Presidential election

Insyd 2020, Apasera manage secure de party ein nomination to contest de 2020 Ghanaian general election as PNC ein presidential candidate. Ein running mate be Divine Ayivor. He be one of twelve candidates wey contest for dat election.[8]

Forum for Former members of parliament

David Apasera be leader of de Forum for Former Members of Parliament. He lobby strong for pension scheme plus other emoluments give former MPs. He carry de fight for pension rights go all de way to de Supreme Court of Ghana. But for ein valedictory judgment, Justice Gbadegbe declare say de Chinery Hesse report—wey recommend de pensions and be de basis of Apasera ein campaign—be unconstitutional.[9]
