Doris Eunice Dlakude (born 16 August 1969), sometimes sanso spell Dorris or Dorries, be a South African politician from Mpumalanga. She be de Deputy Chief Whip of de Majority Party insyd de National Assembly. She be appointed to dat position insyd June 2013, represent de African National Congress, den she be a Member of Parliament since February 2010.

Early political career

Dlakude hold plenti positions insyd ein political party, de African National Congress (ANC); she be de regional treasurer of de ANC Youth League for Ehlanzeni, she dey insyd de Provincial Executive Committee of de ANC den ANC Women's League for Mpumalanga, den she serve six terms as secretary for ein local ANC branch. She join de National Assembly on 9 February 2010, take over de casual vacancy wey Nomatyala Hangana ein resignation cause.[4]

Deputy Chief Whip: 2013–present

On 20 June 2013, ANC announce say Dlakude take office as Deputy Chief Whip of de Majority Party; she deputise Stone Sizani, wey dem sana just appoint, den she replace Mmamoloko Kubayi, wey dey act for dat position. Both Sizani den Dlakude get reappointment after de 2014 general election, but Sizani resign on 2 March 2016; after dat, Dlakude act as Chief Whip until Jackson Mthembu get appoint to de position three weeks later.[5]

During dis period, Dlakude dey insyd de ad hoc parliamentary committee wey dem set up to respond to Nkandlagate. She defend President Jacob Zuma during de committee ein debates, but she plus Kubayi come attract media attention insyd July 2016 as dem snap dem dey paint demma nails during de committee ein sitting.[6][7]

After de 2019 general election, Pemmy Majodina get appointed as Chief Whip den Dlakude continue as ein deputy. John Steenhuisen, wey be de leader of de opposition Democratic Alliance, talk say he feel say de ANC “miss chance for Doris Dlakude... she for make fine chief whip.”[8]
