Edward Nasigrie Mahama (born 15 April 1945) be Ghanaian medical doctor den politician. He be one presidential candidate wey dey contest plenty times under de People's National Convention. He contest insyd de 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 den 2016 General Elections.

Early life den education

Dem born Mahama insyd Sumniboma village (northern Ghana) insyd 1945. He go Nalerigu Primary den Middle School from 1953 go 1959. After dat, he go Secondary School for Tamale from 1961 to 1965. Later dat same year, dem admit am go University of Ghana, Legon, wey he graduate for 1972 plus medical degree.

Medicine

Mahama go back Nalerigu as medical doctor for September 1973, den four years later, he lef Ghana go turn Obstetrics den Gynecology Physician for Chicago, Illinois. During dat period, he dey sana be Clinical Instructor for Northwestern University. For 1990, dem appoint Mahama as lecturer for University of Ghana Medical School den consultant for Korle Bu Teaching Hospital insyd Accra. For 1994, dem elect am as fellow of de West African College of Surgeons.

Politics

Insyd 1996, he run as presidential candidate for People's National Convention (PNC) wey he get 3.0% of de vote. For ein second try for presidency for 2000, he win 2.5% of de vote.

As dem dey prepare for de 2004 presidential election, de PNC join two other parties – Every Ghanaian Living Everywhere (EGLE) den de Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) – form alliance wey dem call de Grand Coalition, den dem choose Mahama as de presidential candidate. He come place third out of four candidates, wey he win 1.9% of de vote.

Mahama get elect as de candidate for PNC for de December 7, 2008 presidential elections.

Edward Mahama lose de position of presidential candidate for PNC give Hassan Ayariga before de 2012 general election. But he win de position back from Ayariga for de 2016 election. After de loss, Ayariga lef PNC go form anoda party, All People's Congress (APC).

Edward Mahama now be Ghana ein Ambassador-at-Large.
