Edward Kofi Omane Boamah (26 December 1974 – 6 August 2025) be Ghana politician wey serve as Minister of Defence from February 2025 till he die for 6 August 2025.[1][2] Before dat, na he be Minister for Communications and Presidential Spokesperson for de Republic of Ghana, wey na he be member of de National Democratic Congress.[3][4]

Na he be old student of de University of Ghana Medical School, wey na he train der as Medical Doctor. He sanso go Washington University School of Medicine for St. Louis, Missouri, USA for small time.[5] Plus dat, na he get master’s degree for Health Policy Planning and Financing from London School of Economics den London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. As he still be student, he serve as Presido for National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) den Coordinating Secretary for Federation of Ghana Medical Students Association (FGMSA).

[edit | edit source]From 2009 go 2012, he work as deputy minister for Environment, Science and Technology.[6][7] Later, na he be National Democratic Congress dema deputy campaign coordinator insyd de 2012 general elections. Na he sanso serve as vice chairman for United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (UNCSTD).
As deputy minister for Environment, Science and Technology, he be de chairman for committee wey check two big environmental cases: de Low Toxicity Oil Based Mud (LTOBM) wey KOSMOS Energy spill for Jubilee Offshore Field – West Cape Three Points, plus de sodium cyanide wey Newmont Ghana Gold Limited spill enter water body for Kenyase. Ebe during ein tenure, wey na de government invest insyd a nationwide tree planting make dem address issues wey dey relate to global warming den excessive cutting down of trees, wich dey threaten de world.[8]

[edit | edit source]Boamah be one of de WHO volunteers wey dem take monitor de 2004 Expanded Program on Immunization for Asuogyaman District insyd Eastern Region of Ghana. He too be member for de Medical Rescue team wey go help for de Accra Sports Stadium disaster for 2001. After ein party, National Democratic Congress, lose de 2016 general election, he go back start ein doctor work for Afrah International Hospital.[13]

De accident, wich na e occur insyd de Adansi District insyd de Ashanti Region, kill all eight people aboard: Boamah; Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Limuna Mohammed Muniru; NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong; former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye; pilot Peter Bafemi Anala; co-Pilot Manaen Twum Ampadu; den crewman Ernest Addo Mensah.[2][16]
