Symptoms fi be very different from person to person, wey dey vary insyd range den intensity. About 25% of individuals get no symptoms,[5] while for sam e fi be a debilitating disease.[6] Common symptoms dey include pelvic pain, heavy den painful periods, pain plus bowel movements, painful urination, pain during sexual intercourse, den infertility.[5][7] Nearly half of those wey be affected get chronic pelvic pain, while 70% dey feel pain during menstruation.[5] Up to half of affected individuals be infertile.[5] Besides physical symptoms, endometriosis fi affect a person ein mental health den social life.[8]

Worldwide, around 10% of de female population of reproductive age (190 million women) be affected by endometriosis.[10] Asian women be more likely dan White women to be diagnosed plus endometriosis.[11] De exact cause of endometriosis no be known. Possible causes dey include problems plus menstrual period flow, genetic factors, hormones, den problems plus de immune system.[3]
While der be no cure for endometriosis, chaw treatments fi improve symptoms.[5] Dis dey include pain medication, hormonal treatments anaa surgery. De recommended pain medication usually be a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), such as naproxen. Taking de birth control pill continuously anaa using a hormonal IUD (coil) be anoda first-line treatment. Dem fi try oda types of hormonal treatment if de pill anaa IUD no be effective. Dem fi use surgical removal of endometriosis to treat those wey dema symptoms no be manageable plus oda treatments, anaa to treat infertility.[12]
