Fatoumata Dembélé Diarra (born 15 February 1949 in Koulikoro) be Malian lawyer den judge. She serve as judge for de International Criminal Tribunal for de former Yugoslavia (ICTY) den for de International Criminal Court (ICC) insyd.[1]
Ein career
[edit | edit source]Diarra get ein Bachelor of Laws from Dakar University for Senegal, wey she get ein Master of Laws from de Mali École Nationale d’Administration. She graduate also from de École Nationale de la Magistrature for Paris.[2]
For Mali insyd, she work as examining magistrate, wey she be de president of de country ein Assize Court. She serve also as de president of de Criminal Chamber for de Bamako Appeals Court, den she be de national director of de Justice Department of Mali.[2]
Before dem elect am as judge for ICC, Dembélé Diarra be judge for ICTY. For 2003, she come turn one of de first judges for ICC. Diarra ein term finish for 2012, but she stay for office reach 2014 under Article 36 (10) of de Rome Statute make she fit finish de trial den sentencing of Germain Katanga.[3][4] For 2009, dem elect Dembélé Diarra as First Vice-President of de ICC under President Sang-Hyun Song. She be member for de ICC ein Trial Division.
Fatoumata Dembélé Diarra be part of de heart of de Malian Democratic Movement wey fight against de dictatorial system of General Moussa Traoré for 1991. For de time of de Sovereign National Lecture of Mali for 1991, Madame Fatoumata Dembélé Diarra be expert member for de group of people wey help write de fundamental texts for a democratic Mali. She be de founding president of de Office on Relief for Impoverished Women and Children and Observation of the Rights of Children and Women (ODEF). Ein legal office give chaw women free legal help make dem fit defend demma rights. Madame Diarra serve as Vice President of de International Federation of Women in Legal Careers (FIFCJ) from 1994 go reach 1997. Since March 1995, she be vice president of de Federation of African Lawyers, wey she attend chaw courses about how women den children demma legal position be for Mali den Africa. She write chaw articles about things like Rights and Exclusion, Legal Assistance, Circumcision, den Violence against Women. Dembélé Diarra be member of de national commission wey dey look into child trafficking den international adoption. Dis commission do big work to protect Malian children from organized crime groups wey dey sell dem go work for coffee den cocoa plantations for Ivory Coast.[5]
