Freddie Adams be South African retired politician. He be former member for de New National Party, wey he join de National Council of Provinces insyd 2003. He join de African National Congress insyd 2005. After de 2014 election, Adams become member for de National Assembly. Adams lef Parliament insyd de 2019 election.

Parliamentary career

Adams be de provincial secretary for de New National Party. Insyd 2003, de African National Congress nominate am make he be one of demma representatives for de National Council of Provinces, wey be de upper house for de South African parliament, based on political agreement between de ANC den NNP.[1][2] After de 2004 general election, Adams get reappointment go de NCOP as de NNP ein only provincial delegate. Insyd October 2004, ANC chief whip Mbulelo Goniwe announce say eight NNP MPs, Adams insyd, go cross floor join de ANC during de floor-crossing period insyd September de following year.[3] Insyd August 2005, Adams talk again say he go join de ANC during de floor-crossing period.[4] After dem reconstitute de Western Cape Provincial Parliament ein composition after de floor-crossing period, Adams officially become ANC representative for de NCOP.[5]

Insyd November 2006, Adams vote for de Civil Union Bill wey legalise same-sex marriage for South Africa.[6]

After de 2009 general election, Adams return go de NCOP.[7] De ANC choose am as demma candidate for Chairperson for de Select Committee on Economic Development; committee members elect am unanimously.[8][9]

Adams contest for seat for de National Assembly, wey be de lower house of parliament, as candidate for de ANC ein Western Cape regional-to-national list inside de 2014 general election, den he win plus get sworn insyd on 21 May 2014.[10] During ein time for de National Assembly, he be member for de Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises den whip for de Portfolio Committee on Public Works. Adams no dey for any ANC list insyd de 2019 general election, so he lef parliament after de election.[11]
