Akosua Frema Osei-Opare (born, June 5, 1947) be a Development Practitioner, an Academic, Economist den a Ghanaian politician. She be a member of de New Patriotic Party (NPP). She spend 40 years insyd dese domains, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, be an expert in labour den hiring as well as development consulting.[1] She represent Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency insyd de Parliament of Ghana. She be de former den first female Chief of Staff of Ghana[2][3][4][5] wey she serve from January 7, 2017 to January 6, 2025 under de leadership anaa presidency of Nana Akuffo Addo.

Early life den education

Dem born Frema on 5th June 1947.[6] She dey hail from Wiamoase insyd de Ashanti Region of Ghana.[7] She attend St. Monica's Secondary School, Mampong- Ashanti. She get ein bachelor's degree insyd Home Science from de University of Ghana. She proceed to University of Guelph for a master's degree insyd Food Science.[6][8]

Career

Frema lecture at de Department of Home Sciences of de University of Ghana from 1976 to 1982. She eventually cam be de Head of Department. She sanso work plus de United Nations insyd de Women insyd Fisheries project insyd various capacities insyd Uganda, Ethiopia, Congo den Namibia.[9] Frema insyd 2005 – 2008 work under de government of President John Agyekum Kufuor as de Deputy Minister for Manpower, Youth and Employment. Between 2005 den 2013, Frema serve as Member of Parliament give Ayawaso West Wuogon.[10]

On Friday, July 7th, 2023, de Valley View University bestow an honorary Doctorate Degree upon Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, de Chief of Staff, in recognition of ein exceptional accomplishments den unmatched contributions to de advancement of Ghana. De citation highlight, "On the basis of these achievements and contributions that you, your honour, had made to the development of Ghana and the general progress of humanity, Valley View University hereby acknowledges these achievements and hereby confer on you the Degree of Doctor Science (Honours Causa) this day, Friday, July 7, 2023."[11]

On Sunday, March 3, 2024, at de Jubilee House, Akosua Frema Osei Opare, Chief of Staff of de Republic of Ghana, throw an exclusive event for representatives of de Black Queens.[12]

Political career

Frema be a leading member of de New Patriotic Party. She serve a two term office as de member of parliament wey dey represent Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency between 2005 den 2013 under de ticket of de NPP.[7][8] Insyd 2017, wen dem vote de NPP in power, she be elected by President Nana Akuffo Addo to serve de first female Chief of Staff at de Presidency.[13]

2004 Elections

Dem elect Opare as de member of parliament for de Ayawaso West-Wuogon constituency insyd de 2004 Ghanaian General elections.[14] She thus represent de constituency insyd de 4th parliament of de 4th republic of Ghana.[14] Dem elect am plus 28,636 votes out of 54,988 total valid votes cast. Dis be equivalent to 52.1% of de total valid votes cast.[15] Dem elect am over Henry Haruna Asante of de People's National Convention, Samuel Adiepena of de National Democratic Congress den Greenstreet Kobina of de Convention People's Party.[15] Dese obtain 1.0%, 37.9% den 9.0% of de total valid votes cast.[15] Dem elect Opare on de ticket of de New Patriotic Party.[6] Ein constituency be a part of de 17 constituencies wey de New Patriotic Party win insyd de Greater Accra region insyd dat elections.[16] Insyd all, de New Patriotic Party win a total 128 parliamentary seats insyd de 4th parliament of de 4th republic of Ghana.[17]
