De Gambela Massacre be a three-day-long massacre insyd de city of Gambela targeting Anuak people insyd December 2003. Ambush

De ambush kill all eight government employees insyd de car.[3]
Massacre
[edit | edit source]After de ambush of ARRA personnel, a crowd of so-called "highlanders" (Amhara, Oromia, and Tigryian people) dey form near de regional council building where de bodies had been shown, de crowd then become increasingly angry. Soon highlander civilians and ENDF soldiers armed plus machetes, axes, sticks, den iron bars insyd groups of about 30-50 begin to roam through de Anuak neighborhoods of Gambela killing people de setting fire to buildings den homes. De building they can not set fire to had grenades thrown through de windows of de structure. Insyd one incident the crowd descended onto the house of Okwier Oletho an Anuak pastor where people had sought refuge about 12 people be killed there. Anuak civilians fled into de forests surrounding de town den 382 had sought refuge insyd a catholic church. By de end of de massacre, 440 homes be destroyed den an estimated 300 people had been killed den 70,000 people be displaced. De worst dey affect neighborhoods of Gambela be Omminingah, Owalingah, Tier Kidi, den Addis Zefer.[4][5][6]

Attacks insyd 2022
[edit | edit source]De start of de June 2022 violence insyd Gambela, de Southern SNNPR region be associated plus a demonstration hold by ‘non-indigenous’ sana known as Degegnoch or high-landers, requesting local officials for protection from de frequent attacks against de group. However, reports show dat ENDF (federal army) den regional forces fired toward de demonstrators causing casualties. Anoda armed clash between de Oromo OLF-Shane, Gambela Liberation Front (GLF), den government forces reportedly dey cause additional death from involved parties plus no clear number on actual death tolls. De Ethiopian Human Rights Commission make calls to de government for protection.
