Professor George Panyin Hagan (born 1938), be a prominent academic den politician insyd Ghana.

Na dem born George Hagan insyd Accra insyd 1938.[1] He get ein basic education insyd Accra, Koforidua, Sekondi den Kumasi secof na dem dey transfer ein parents, civil servants. Na ein secondary education be at St Thomas Aquinas Secondary School insyd Cantonments, a suburb of Accra den sixth form (college) at St. Augustine's College at Cape Coast. He proceed to de University of Ghana, Legon, wer na he obtain a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree insyd Philosophy den later a Master of Arts degree insyd Philosophy as well. He proceed to de United Kingdom wer na he obtain a DPhil insyd Social Anthropology from Oxford University.[1]

Career

Na he first work at de Scholarship Secretariat insyd Ghana as a Welfare Officer between 1962 den 1964. Insyd 1968, na he cam be a Lecturer den Research Fellow at de Institute of African Studies of de University of Ghana. Na he rise cam be associate professor insyd 1994 den de Director of de Institute insyd de 1997/1998 academic year.[1] Na he serve for chaw committees top within de university as well as insyd outsyd institutions such as member of de Board of Directors, State Construction Corporation, Chairmo of de Academic Committee of National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI) den member of de Board of Governors of Aquinas den St. Augustine Secondary Schools. He be de Chairmo of de Ghana National Commission on Culture[2] den chairmo of de Board of Directors of de Electricity Corporation of Ghana (ECG).[3]

Politics

Na Prof. Hagan be involved plus de CPP from de days of Kwame Nkrumah insyd de mid-1960s. Na he sanso be a member of de National Alliance of Liberals insyd de Second Republic den a Standing Committee member of de Action Congress Party insyd de Third Republic. Na he be de Presidential aspirant give de National Independence Party for de 1992 presidential election.[1] Na he be a member of de People's Convention Party PCP Team for Unity Talks plus de National Convention Party NCP den de People's National Convention PNC wich na e lead to de reformation of de CPP insyd 1996.[1]

Na George Hagan be de presidential candidate for de CPP insyd de 2000 elections. Na he win 1.78% of de votes, wey he cam fourth insyd de first round of de election, thereby missing de cut for de second round.[4]

George Hagan marry Dr Maria Hagan, wey be Director of de National Eye Care Programme for Ghana. Dem get three kiddies.[1]
