He get 13,796 votes out of de 31,169 valid votes wey dem cast, wey be 32.10%. He beat Aliu Aduna Mahama of Convention People's Party (CPP) wey get 9,467 votes (22.10%), Mohammed Ibn Chambas of National Democratic Congress (NDC) wey get 7,488 votes (17.40%), den Justice K. Grundow of National Congress Party (NCP) wey get 418 votes (1.00%).[3]
