De Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) be state organization for Ghana wey dey watch how nuclear energy dey use for de country. Demma aim dey similar to Ghana Nuclear Society (GNS), but de difference be say GNS be nonprofit body, while GAEC dey under Parliament of Ghana.

GAEC ein main job come from Parliament Act 588. Dis Act talk say make dem study how nuclear energy fit take benefit Ghana, plus make dem support research den development for nuclear matter both for Ghana insyd den abroad.[1]

History

Na Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) dey since 1952 wen dem first start dey use radioisotopes for Ghana. Dat time na radiostrontium dem dey use do experiments. For 1958, de Physics Department for University College of Gold Coast (wey now be University of Ghana, Legon) start radioactive fallout monitoring service for Defence Ministry. Insyd de year 1961, na work insyd radioisotopes insyd Ghana gain grounds insyd chaw of de Government institutions to explain establishment of a Radioisotope Unit.[2]
