Ghana Senior High School, Koforidua wey bunch squad dey bell GHANASS, be public high school wey dey Koforidua.[1] E be two colleges wey dem combine take form wat bunch squad dey bell Beacon of The East.[2]

History

Na previously know Ghana Senior High School as Phoenix College, dem found am for 1943 by Mr. Fred Addae den Mr. Francis Adjei Tetebo. Na dem start plus just 16 boys for temporary private building. As e get more students, dem move school go new place for 1950, na dem site now be home to Normal Technical Institute for Koforidua. Dey change name from Phoenix College go Christ College. Again dem move school go Effiduase, na de place dem occupy now be Effiduase Police Quarters for Koforidua, Ghana. Rev. Dr. Nimako, Mr. WT Wutor, den Nana Frempong Mposo II help make dis movement possible. For dat time, Mr. Francis Adjei Tetebo be principal, after Mr. Fred Addae wey be headmaster die.[3]

Later developments

Insyd 1957, de year wey Ghana gain independence, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah for a visit to Koforidua request name change of de school from Christ College to Ghana Secondary School. Na de change be so say de new name go be in line plus oda government established secondary schools such as de Ghana National College insyd Cape Coast den de Ghana Secondary Technical School insyd Takoradi. Wen na dem absorb de school into de public school system, na Mr. Daniel Ofori Dankwa wey na he be a Science teacher for Accra Academy na dem encourage am make he cam den steer de affairs of de establishment. Insyd dat same year, na dem organize de first Speech and Prize - Giving Day. Na de school then get a population of 100 boys den 6 girlies plus a staff of 6 per. By dint of hardwork, na Mr D. Ofori Dankwa continue dey develop de school til 1974 wen na dem promote am to Director of Education. Na Rev. R. P. Nyarko succeed am.

Now nu de school get a population of over two thousand three hundred students (males den females) plus a staff population of about eighty teachers.[4]
