Gomoa Onyaadze Solar Power Station be solar power plant wey dey work and connect to de national grid, and e dey produce 20 megawatts (27,000 hp) of electric power for Ghana. De power station wey private people own dey sell ein electric power give Power Distribution Services Ghana (PDSG), wey before dem dey call Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), under long-term agreement to buy de power.[1]
Location
[edit | edit source]De power station dey Gomoa West District insyd Central Region of Ghana, south of Otaw town, for de road wey connect Otaw den Mankwadze, near de Atlantic coast. E dey about 71 kilometres (44 miles) west from Accra, wey be de capital and biggest city for de country.[2] Otaw dey about 12 kilometres (7 miles) west from Winneba town wey dey Effutu Municipal District, wey be de closest big town. Gomoa Onyaadze Solar Power Station dey for coordinates 05°20'46.0"N, 0°42'12.0"W (Latitude: 5.346111; Longitude: -0.703333). Dis power station dey near BXC Solar Power Station (Onyandze Solar Power Station) wey dem build in 2016.[3]
Overview
[edit | edit source]De power station dey use 64,400 solar photovoltaic (PV) modules wey dey produce direct current (DC) electricity when sunlight touch dem. Dem take 400 inverters turn de DC into alternating current (AC), wey dem then push enter de national electricity grid through high voltage transmission line from de power station go PDSG substation for Winneba.[3][4]
Developers
[edit | edit source]De solar farm na Meinergy Ghana Limited develop am, finance am, own am, and dem dey run am. Dem be Ghanaian independent power producer (IPP).[3][4]
Costs, funding den timeline
[edit | edit source]One source talk say de construction cost for dis power station be $30 million.[1] Another reliable source talk say de cost be €23 million.[3] Na de owner/developers take care of all de money matter for de project. Dem start dey use de power station officially from 16 September 2018.[4]
