Isaac William Benneh
Isaac William Benneh be Ghanaian politician. He serve as minister of state insyd different portfolios insyd de First Republic from 1960 go 1966. He sana serve as de member for Berekum constituency from 1957 go 1966.[1][2]

[edit | edit source]Benneh born on 12 May 1912 for Berekum insyd de Bono Region of Ghana.[3] He get ein elementary education for Berekum den Abetifi wey he take get ein Standard 7 certificate for 1930.[3]
Career
[edit | edit source]After he receive two years training plus Cadbury den Fry Company, Benneh turn cocoa broker for de Company insyd 1933.[3] He climb through de ranks den turn supervisor for de company insyd 1951.[4] As he dey work plus de company, he sana run ein own transport business.[4]
Politics

Awuah die, wey he be de then sitting Convention People's Party (CPP) member for Berekum constituency, de Berekum seat come vacant wey dem hold by-election on 25 April 1957.[5] Benneh contest for de seat den win am under de CPP ticket.[6] After he win de election, dem appoint am as General Manager of de Ghana Farmer's Cooperative.[7] Insyd October 1959, dem appoint am as Ministerial Secretary to de Ministry of Economic Affairs den he hold dis position till June 1960. For August 1960, dem transfer am go Ministry of Labour, Co-operatives den Social Welfare wey he continue to serve for dat same capacity. Dat same year, Benneh rise to de rank of minister of state wey dem give am de Portfolio of Education. He hold dis appointment for four years before dem transfer am go Ministry of Communications.[8] On 15 April 1965, dem appoint am as Minister for Rural Industries, take replace John Young Ghann wey dem make Minister for Internal Trade.[9][10] Benneh stay for dis position till 24 February 1966 wey dem overthrow de Nkrumah government.
Personal life
[edit | edit source]Benneh marry Mrs. Lucy Benneh (née Ofori-Atta) for 1959.[11][12] Lucy be clerical officer for de Ministry of Labour from 1957 till 1958 wey dem move am go Broadcasting Department make she work for de same capacity. But she resign for 1961.[12] Before he marry Lucy, Benneh marry ten times den get forty-two kiddies plus de ten women.[12][13] He be de poppie of de Ghanaian academic den university administrator, George Benneh, wey serve as de Vice-Chancellor of de University of Ghana from 1992 go 1996.[14]
He sana be de poppie of Emmanuel Yaw Benneh, wey be Law Professor plus de University of Ghana.[15] Dem know am say he be deceased.[16]
