Anne Jacqueline Oble (born 1950), wey people sana know as Jacqueline Lohoues-Oble, be Ivorian lawyer plus politician wey be de first woman to stand as candidate for presidential election.

Dem born Anne Jacqueline Lohoues insyd Dabou insyd 1950,[1] as one out of eleven kiddies.[2] She get bachelor's degree insyd law from University of Abidjan-Cocody insyd 1975,[3] master's degree for Private Law from University of Paris II insyd 1977, plus PhD from Jean Moulin University insyd 1982.[1][4]

Career

Oble be lawyer wey be de first law professor for sub-Saharan Africa insyd Abidjan Law School, plus she serve as dean for law faculty from 1986 reach 1989. Insyd 1984, she meet Gabonese President Omar Bongo for one conference on family law for Africa, wey introduce am to President Félix Houphouët-Boigny. Insyd 1990, Houphouët-Boigny appoint am as Minister of Justice plus Keeper of de Seals under Prime Minister Alassane Ouattara.[2]

Afta Houphouët-Boigny ein death for 1993, Oble be one of de founding members of de Rally of de Republicans plus ein brother Vincent Lohoues Essoh, wey later turn Minister of Construction plus Town Planning under de transitional government of Robert Guéï.[2][3]

Insyd 1995, Oble win seat as member of de National Assembly for Abobo. She resign for 1999 afta she oppose Ouattara ein candidacy insyd de 2000 presidential election. She go back to de university den later serve as legal advisor to Prime Minister Charles Konan Banny from 2006 to 2007.[2]

Oble serve as president for African Women Ministers and Parliamentarians plus she be founding member of de Women Lawyers' Association. Afta Ellen Johnson Sirleaf win election for nearby Liberia insyd 2005, plenty women push make Oble too contest for president. Insyd 2010, she stand for de presidential elections, wey make am de first woman wey contest dat position. Even though she pass six of de other thirteen candidates, she only get 0.27 percent of de votes. She decide support Laurent Gbagbo insyd de second round of voting. Afta dem elect Gbagbo, dem appoint am as ein spokesperson, den from 5 December 2010 go 11 April 2011, she serve as Minister of Education insyd de Gilbert Aké government, wey de international community no recognise. On 18 December 2010, she talk on Gbagbo ein behalf wey she call make UN den French troops comot from de country sharp, say de UN commit "serious missteps" den show "contempt" for de country ein institutions. On 11 January 2011, de European Union put sanctions top Oble ein head as part of de Aké N’Gbo government. But when Gbagbo get arrest on 11 April 2011 wey de Second Ivorian Civil War end, Oble be de only minister wey de new leaders no touch.[5]

She go back to ein academic work for Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny insyd Cocody den rule out say she no go run for de 2015 presidential election. By 2013, she be member of de Scientific Council of de International Union of Judicial Officers.[6]
