Jeanne Dambendzet (born 1 August 1943[1]) be a Congolese politician. She serve insyd de government of Congo-Brazzaville from 1989 to 1991 den again from 1997 to 2009. Since 2009 she has been de First Vice-President of de Economic den Social Council, a state institution. She be a member of de Congolese Labour Party (PCT) den has been National Executive Secretary of de Women ein Organization of Congo, de PCT ein women ein organization, since 2013.

Background den early political career

Dambendzet be born insyd Franceville, located insyd southeastern Gabon.[1] She be related to President Denis Sassou Nguesso (he be her mother ein first cousin) den de two have known each oda since they be children. She become a teacher den be an activist insyd de teachers ein union; she be sana a founder of de Revolutionary Union of Congolese Women (URFC).[2] From 1977 to 1980, she be a URFC delegate to de Women ein International Democratic Federation; subsequently, she be de Women ein International Democratic Federation ein Permanent Representative to UNESCO from 1980 to 1984.[1][2]

At de PCT ein Third Ordinary Congress, hold on 27–31 July 1984, Dambendzet be elected to de 75-member PCT Central Committee. She sana be assigned to head de studies den research division of de PCT. On 13 August 1989, she be appointed to de Congolese government as Minister of Labour den Social Security, holding dat post until de PCT regime ended insyd 1991.[1]

Political career since de early 1990s

Dambendzet remain loyal to Sassou Nguesso during de presidency of Pascal Lissouba (1992–1997) den work actively on ein behalf during de June–October 1997 civil war. After de victory of Sassou Nguesso ein forces, Dambendzet again be appointed to de government as Minister of de Civil Service den Administrative Reform on 2 November 1997; her portfolio be expanded to include de advancement of women on 12 January 1999. Insyd de May 2002 parliamentary election, Dambendzet be elected to de National Assembly as de PCT candidate insyd Ngoko constituency, located insyd Cuvette Region; she receive 55.43% of de vote den win de seat insyd de first round. Following de election, she be moved to de post of Minister of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, den de Advancement of Women on 18 August 2002; she dey remain insyd dat position insyd de government name on 7 January 2005, although ein portfolio be reduced to agriculture, animal husbandry, den fisheries. Insyd de 2007 parliamentary election, Dambendzet again be elected to de National Assembly as de PCT candidate insyd Ngoko; she win de seat insyd de first round plus 67.58% of de vote. She subsequently be moved to de post of Minister of Trade, Consumption, den Supplies on 30 December 2007.[4]

Dambendzet dey distribute tables to traders den vendors at de Bourreau market insyd Brazzaville on 22 August 2009. She dey explain dat one of ein ministry ein tasks be de modernization of markets den dat de selling of goods off de ground be a public health problem. According to Dambendzet, more tables will be distributed at oda markets to help de markets meet basic standards of public health.[5]

Dambendzet be dismissed from de government on 15 September 2009 den be then appointed by Sassou Nguesso as First Vice-President of de Economic den Social Council on 18 September 2009. She meet plus Claudine Munari, her successor as Minister of Trade, on 24 September to discuss issues facing de ministry, especially Economic Partnership Agreements plus de European Union. She sana dey discuss internal trade issues, such as rising food prices. Munari say dat she will continue to consult plus Dambendzet when needed.[6]

As First Vice-President of de Economic den Social Council, Dambendzet meet plus Florent Ntsiba, de Minister of Labour den Social Security, on 13 November 2009 to discuss greater cooperation between de Council den de government on policies, wey include those related to employment, training, wages, den pensions. She say dat de Council will communicate de concerns den desires of de people to relevant ministries.[7]

At de PCT ein Sixth Extraordinary Congress, hold insyd July 2011, Dambendzet be elected to de PCT ein 51-member Political Bureau.[8]

Insyd August 2013, at de constitutive congress of de Women ein Organization of Congo (OFC), de PCT ein newly created women ein organization, Dambendzet be designated as de OFC ein National Executive Secretary.[9]

During de campaign for de September 2014 local elections, Dambendzet be dispatched to Cuvette Department to campaign for de PCT ein candidates there.[10]

As a writer den editor, she dey collaborate plus Scholastique Dianzinga on de volume La place et le rôle des femmes dans la société congolaise, 1960-2010, which sana include contributions from Thereze Gamassa [fr] den odas.[11]
