Johnson Phillip Mlambo (22 February 1940 – 9 January 2021) be a South African politician[1] wey komot Johannesburg.
Activism den political career
[edit | edit source]He join de Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) wen dem start am for 1959, den he become branch leader insyd Daveyton. Insyd 1962, two years after dem ban de PAC, he go de underground headquarters insyd Maseru, where he join de planning for wetin dem dey call de "Year of Destiny" wey dem dey prepare for 1963.
Dem arrest am on 31 March 1963 together plus seven colleagues, sentence am to twenty years for prison, den carry am go Robben Island. For de island, he go through abuse from de prison warders, including dem bury am alive reach ein neck, plus dem urinate on am. Dis kind wicked treatment, plus others, come reach de international community, enter United Nations General Assembly, den e help bring small improvement for de prison conditions.[2]
After dem release am on 20 June 1983, he go back join de PAC, den spend about ten days plus ein family before he comot from de country go meet de PAC for exile. Dem appoint am as Secretary for Foreign Affairs, den after John Nyathi Pokela die, dem make am chairman plus commander in chief of de Azanian People's Liberation Army (APLA), wey be PAC ein military wing, from 12 August 1985 go 1990.[3] He serve as Deputy President of de PAC from 1990 reach 1994.[1]

He die of COVID-19 during de COVID-19 pandemic insyd South Africa, on de morning of 9 January 2021, after being admitted to hospital de day before.
