Joseph Ampah Kojo Essel be Ghanaian Member of Parliament for de Dompim constituency from 1965 go 1966.[1][2]

Early life

Dem born Essel insyd 1921 for Sefwi-Bekwai insyd de Western Region of Ghana (wey be Gold Coast by den). He get ein Middle School education for Sefwi-Wiawso Government Middle School wey he take obtain ein Standard Seven Certificate for 1937. He enter Wesley College, Kumasi for 1938 but he transfer go Adisadel College one year later. However, ein stay for Adisadel College cut short for 1940 wen ein guardian die.[3]

Career den politics

Essel start ein career for 1942 plus de Gold Coast Army as trained mechanic for de Base Workshops insyd Accra. He work plus de army till 1946. One year later, he get job as mechanic plus C. F. A. O. for Kumasi. Dat same year, he stop ein mechanic career take enter cocoa buying trade. He turn licensed cocoa buying agent under one Opanyin Adofoasa of Ntroso insyd de Brong Ahafo Region during de main season of 1947 den 1948. For 1949, he lef de job take turn petty trader. As he dey do petty trade, he start cocoa farming for 1950 at Ashiam, one village insyd Sefwi-Bekwai.[4]

Insyd January 1955, dem appoint am as District Secretary of de United Ghana Farmers Council. He sana serve as Union Secretary den Assistant Marketing Officer for de Western Region before dem appoint am as District Commissioner for Bibiani for July 1959. Later, he turn Regional Secretary of de Convention People's Party for 1962, den for June 1965, dem make am member of parliament for de Dompim constituency. He hold de positions of Regional Secretary den member of parliament till 24 February 1966 wen dem overthrow de Nkrumah government.[5]

Essel marry Madam Abena Kunadu, wey people sana know as Mary Acquah, for 1949, but de marriage end for 1955. Dem get three kiddies together. For 1950, he marry Madam Yaa Wiredua, den dem too get three kiddies. Ein second marriage end for 1958. Ein third marriage be plus Madam Theresa Yaa Mansa for 1954. Dem too get three kiddies together.[6]
