Joseph Emmanuel Ackah (31 August 1934 – 17 April 2024) na he be Ghanaian politician, farmer den a member of de 1st, 2nd den 3rd parliament of de 4th republic of Ghana.[1] Na he be a former member of Parliament for de Jomoro constituency insyd de Western Region wey na he be a member of de National Democratic Congress political party in Ghana.[1][2]

Early life den education

Na dem born Ackah for 31 August 1934. Na he be a product of de University of Ghana. He acquire a Bachelor of Arts degree insyd history from de university. Na Ackah sanso be a product of University of Cape Coast. He acquire a Post-graduate Certificate insyd Education from de university.[3] Na Ackah be a farmer by profession.[3]

Politics

Dem elect Ackah for de 1992 Ghana parliamentary election as member for de 1st parliament insyd for de 4th republic. He take over from James V. Leuven Mensah from People's National Party (PNP). Na he still be member for de 2nd den 3rd parliament insyd for de 4th republic of Ghana.[1] He join National Democratic Congress (NDC) wey he represent Jomoro constituency for Western Region insyd. Ein political journey start as he contest for 1992 election under NDC wey he win. After ein term fini, he san contest for 1996 Ghana election den 2000 Ghana election.[4][5]

1996 Elections

For de 1996 Ghana General Elections insyd, na Ackah contest under de National Democratic Congress (NDC) make he represent Jomoro Constituency for Parliament. He win de election plus 22,881 votes. De oda people wey contest be Anthony Kwofie Jabialu from Convention People's Party (CPP), wey he get 13,401 votes, den Patrick Tandoh Williams from National Convention Party (NCP), wey he get 1,394 votes from all de valid votes insyd.[6]

2000 Elections

For de 2000 Ghana General Elections insyd, Ackah win de election as Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency under de National Democratic Congress (NDC).[1][4] Ein constituency be one of de 9 seats wey NDC win out of de 19 parliamentary seats for Western Region insyd. Dat election, NDC get minority plus 92 seats out of de 200 seats for de 3rd parliament insyd for de 4th republic of Ghana.[5][7][8] Ackah win de election plus 10,427 votes from 32,232 total valid votes wey dem cast, wey be 33.4% of all de votes. He beat Patrick Somiah Ehomah (independent candidate) wey get 8,171 votes (26.2%), Peter Nwanwaan from New Patriotic Party (NPP) wey get 5,959 votes (19.1%), Abraham Yankson from Convention People's Party (CPP) wey get 4,762 votes (15.3%), Stephen Blay from National Reformed Party (NRP) wey get 1,365 votes (4.4%), Richard Aduko Raqib from People's National Convention (PNC) wey get 389 votes (1.2%) den Patrick Tandoh Williams from United Ghana Movement (UGM) wey get 131 votes (0.4%).[1][4]

Na Ackah be Christian.[3] He die on 17 April 2024, wey na he be 89 years old.[9][10]
