Joseph Esilifie Hagan na be Ghanaian politician. He serve as regional commissioner give Western Region, Central Region den Eastern Region. He serve too as member of parliament for Abura-Asebu constituency, den later for Abura constituency.
Early life den education
[edit | edit source]Hagan dem born am for 1912. He do ein early education for Nyakrom Methodist School, den continue go St. Nicholas Grammar School (wey now be Adisadel College) for Cape Coast.[1]
Career den politics
[edit | edit source]Afta he fini ein secondary school education, Hagan get employment as storekeeper for Union Trading Company (U.T.C.) from 1937 to 1950.[1] Hagan join de Cape Coast Town Council, plus he be one of de foundation members of de Convention People's Party for 1949. Insyd 1951, na dem elect am as member of de Legislative Assembly, wer na he serve as Assistant Government Whip. Dem re-elect am again for 1954 den for 1956. Dat same year, 1956, dem appoint am as ministerial secretary (deputy minister) to de Ministry of Local Government.[2] Insyd 1957, he become Regional Commissioner (Regional Minister) for Western Region,[1][3] where he serve till 1960. From there, dem appoint am as Regional Commissioner for Central Region.[4] For 1965, he become Regional Commissioner for Eastern Region,[5] wey na he remain for dat position till 1966, wen dem overthrow de Nkrumah government.
