Joseph Kodzo be Ghanaian educationist plus politician. He serve as Minister of State plus member of parliament during de first republic. From 1964 to 1965, he serve as Minister for Health, den from 1965, he become Regional Commissioner (wey now be Regional Minister) for de Volta Region. He represent Buem-Krachi constituency as member of parliament from 1951 to 1954, then Akan-Krachi constituency from 1954 to 1965, plus Krachi constituency from 1965 to 1966.

Early life den education

Kodzo dem born am for 1916 for Kete-Krachi, one town wey dey de then Volta Region of Ghana (now Oti Region), to Kodzo Emfrinne plus Afua Kra. Ein early education start for Kete-Krachi Roman Catholic Primary School, den he continue go Roman Catholic Middle School for Kpando from 1925 to 1934.[1] Insyd 1935, he go St. Augustine's Training College (wey now be St. Augustine's College, Cape Coast) to train as teacher. He get ein Teachers' Certificate 'A' for 1938.[2]

Career

After he train as teacher, Kodzo go back Volta Region wey he take teaching appointments for 14 years. Insyd 1951, he resign from de teaching profession as headmaster of de Roman Catholic Middle School for Kete-Krachi.[2][3]

Kodzo enter parliament for 1951 after he win de Buem-Krachi seat during de 1951 Gold Coast Legislative Election wey happen on 8 February 1951.[4] For 1954, he get re-elected enter parliament again, dis time as representative of de Akan Krachi constituency, wey he serve from 1954 to 1965.[5] While he dey parliament, dem appoint am as Parliamentary Secretary to de Ministry of Trade for November 1957.[6] Later, dem change de portfolio to Deputy Minister, den for 1959, he become Deputy Minister of Health.[7][8] After about four years, dem elevate am to Minister for Health for December 1964.[9] After some months for dat position, he become Volta Regional Commissioner.[10] He remain for dis appointment till dem overthrow de Nkrumah government on 24 February 1966.

Insyd 1969, Kodzo plus Hans Kofi Boni dem two get sentence to six years imprisonment each by de Accra High Court under Justice Edward Kwame Wiredu. Dem find dem guilty say dem misuse funds wey belong to de then Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).[11]
