Karađoz Bey Mosque (Bosnian: Karađoz-begova džamija, Turkish: Karagöz Mehmed Bey Camii) be a 16th-century Ottoman mosque insyd de city of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina.[1]
Plus ein big dome den high minaret, ebe one of de largest mosques insyd de region.
History
[edit | edit source]An Arabic foundation inscription for de mosque dey record say na ebe commissioned by Mehmed Beg b. Abu al-Saʿadat’ wey na be a brother of a vizier insyd de year AH 965 (1557–58). Na sam scholars claim say na de vizier be de Ottoman grand vizier Rustem Pasha, buh dem record Rustem Pasha as he get one bro, Sinan Pasha per.[2]
Na de imperial architect Mimar Sinan fi design de mosque. E dey in de form of a domed cube dem front by a double portico. De three domes of de inner portico be supported by four marble columns. De outer portico get a shed roof wey dey rest for small octagonal pillars top. De large 10.65 metres (34.9 ft) dome of de mosque dey tap for an octagonal fenestrated drum top wich be supported by eight-pointed arches.[2]
Na dem severely damage de mosque during World War II, wey e face near destruction during de Bosnian War insyd de early 1990s. However, Karađoz Bey Mosque, like de rest of Mostar, undergo extensive repairs between 2002 den 2004. Na dem completely renovate de mosque wey dem reopen am to de public insyd July 2004.
