Political career

Morapela serve as de provincial chairperson for African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) for Free State. Insyd February 2014, e resign from de ANC to join Julius Malema ein new political party, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF),[1] after dem expel Malema from de ANC. Morapela then contest as candidate for EFF inside de national den provincial elections wey happen for May dat same year, den e win seat for de National Assembly.[2] As e enter parliament, dem appoint am to de Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises for June 2014.[3] Still for June, one EFF Provincial Command Team (PCT) member talk say dem remove de party ein convenor to make way give Morapela take de position, because of ein past link plus de ANC Youth League.[4] Later, dem elect Morapela as de provincial chairperson of de party.

Morapela resign from de National Assembly on 31 October 2015, sake of say de party deploy am go de Free State Provincial Legislature. Thembinkosi Rawula come take ein seat for de National Assembly.[5] For November 2015, dem swear Morapela in as member of de Provincial Legislature, den assign am go de committees insyd Economic Development, Governance, Budget and Oversight, plus Public Accounts den Finance. Morapela and Mandisa Makesini disrupt Premier Ace Magashule ein 2016 State of the Province Address.[6]

At de EFF ein provincial conference wey happen for September 2018, ein fellow MPL Mandisa Makesini win de position of provincial chairperson, as she beat Morapela by only three votes.[7] Morapela continue serve as Member of de Free State Provincial Legislature until de 2019 general elections. Dem no add ein name to de party ein provincial candidate list, and for de National Assembly ein candidate list, dem place am for position wey e no fit win.[3]
