Kobina Hagan (1923–1977) be Ghanaian politician plus teacher. From 1960 to 1963, he serve as Principal Secretary for de Central Organisation of Sports (COS). Later, he cam be member of parliament for Denkyira constituency from 1965 to 1966.[1][2]

Early life

Na dem born Hagan on 11 November 1923 at Saltpond insyd Central Region, Ghana (then Gold Coast).[3] He be educated at Mfantsipim School den Wesley College of Education, Kumasi.[3][4] While at Wesley College, na Hagan be one of de few students insyd de school wey na dem obtain colours for all de games dem play insyd de school, dem include; football, athletics, cricket den hockey.[4] After na he teach for a period of about 3 years, he enter de University College of the Gold Coast (now de University of Ghana as a founding student of de university.[3][4]

Hagan start ein career as teacher under de Methodist Educational Unit.[3] He teach for both Prestea and Dunkwa-On-Offin from 1944 to 1947.[4] Afta he fini ein studies for de University College of the Gold Coast, he join de teaching staff of ein former schools—Mfantsipim School, den later Wesley College of Education, Kumasi.[3][4] Afta he teach under de Methodist Educational Unit for some time, dem appoint am as principal of de Kwame Nkrumah Workers' College for 1959.[3] One year later, he join de Central Organisation of Sports (COS) as Principal Secretary.[4] He work for dis position for one year, den dem appoint am as principal of de Kwame Nkrumah Ideological Institute for Winneba.[4][5] He serve as principal of de college from 1961 till 1963, wey he get appointment for University of Ghana as Senior Resident Tutor under de Institute of Public Education (IPE).[5] For 1964, he become Director of Adult Education for University of Ghana. Hagan hold dis position from 1964 till dem overthrow de Nkrumah government for 1966.[4] Insyd 1965, he sanso cam be member of parliament after dem elect am to represent de Denkyira constituency under de ticket of de Convention People's Party (CPP).[4][5]

Sports

Hagan play football for clubs wey dey Kumasi den Dunkwa areas, den he later become honorary coach for Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club.[4] As member of de Central Organisation of Sports (COS), he serve as team manager of de Ghana national team during dema victories for de 4th and 5th African Cup of Nations.[4]
