Kwame Sanaa-Poku Jantuah (21 December 1922 – 3 February 2011), wey dem first know am as John Ernest Jantuah, be Ghanaian politician, lawyer plus diplomat.[1]
Early life den education
[edit | edit source]Jantuah dem born am on 21 December 1922 for Kejetia, one suburb of Kumasi, insyd Ashanti Region of de then Gold Coast (now Ghana). He baptise on 19 May 1934, den dem give am de Christian names John and Ernest for St. Peter's Catholic Church for Kumasi. Insyd 1936, Jantuah go St. Theresa's Junior Seminary for Amissano near Elmina for training. He attend St. Augustine's College from 1943 to 1944. Later, he go United Kingdom go study politics plus economics for University of Oxford (Plater College) under one scholarship from Asanteman Council, wey de late Ashanti king (Asantehene), Otumfuo Sir Osei Tutu Agyeman Prempeh II set up. iJantuah enter College of Law for 1964, den he get ein LLB plus BL degrees for 1966. Dem call am to de Bar at Lincoln's Inn, den later to de Ghana Bar.[1]
Dem know am formally as John Ernest Jantuah till 21 December 1962, wey he change ein name to Kwame Sanaa-Poku Jantuah.[2]
Career den politics
[edit | edit source]Jantuah be member of de Convention People's Party (CPP) wey serve as Minister for Agriculture plus cabinet minister under de Nkrumah government during de first republic.[3][4][5] He also serve as Interior Minister during de Limann government.[6] Insyd de 1950s, he serve as Acting High Commissioner to de United Kingdom. He be de first resident Ambassador to France,[7] den later become Ambassador to de German Democratic Republic for de late 1980s during de PNDC era.[8][9] He also be ambassador to Brazil during Nkrumah ein time. He remain member of de CPP till he die.[10]
Honours
[edit | edit source]Jantuah be one of many Ghanaians to receive national awards on 6 July 2007 insyd Accra.[2]

[edit | edit source]Kwame Sanaa-Poku Jantuah be de senior brother of Ghanaian politician, F. A. Jantuah. He die after short sickness for Accra on 3 February 2011, aged 88. He be strong Roman Catholic, den dem bury am on 26 March for ein hometown, Mampongteng, insyd Ashanti Region.[5]
