Kweku Akwei, wey dem dey call am too Isaac Lamptey Vanderpuije, (born 10 February 1919) be Ghanaian politician. E be member of parliament for Ayawaso constituency from 1965 go 1966.[1] As he dey insyd parliament, he be de head for de Parliamentary Disciplinary Control Committee. Before he enter parliament, he be de head for party education for de Convention People's Party.[1]

[edit | edit source]Dem born Akwei dey on 10 February 1919 insyd Accra. After ein elementary education, e study plus get Fellowship Diploma of de Corporation of Certified Secretaries (F.C.C.S.). E sana study plus get Intermediate qualification of de Chartered Institute of Secretaries (Inter. C.I.S.).[2]
Career
[edit | edit source]Insyd 1937, Akwei get work for G. W. Lamptey and Company insyd Accra as typist. E work there for one year then lef go join Barclays Bank as typist. E work plus Barclays Bank from 1938 go 1940. Dem employ am for Messrs. Texas Petroleum Company insyd Accra as typist from 1940 go 1944. For August 1944, e move go Lands Department go work there as Stenographer/Typist. E lef de Lands Department for November 1954. For December 1954, Weco Industrial Company take am do Senior Accounts Clerk till March 1955. E join Industrial Development Corporation for April 1955 as assistant secretary. Dem later promote am to acting secretary before e lef de company for December 1957. For early 1958, Agricultural Development Corporation employ Akwei as secretary. E work there till e enter politics for 1960.[3]
Politics
[edit | edit source]Akwei get appointment as Secretary wey e dey in charge of Education plus de Anti-Corruption Bureau for July 1960.[4][5] He work for dis position till 1966. For 1965, e turn member of parliament for Ayawaso constituency.[6] As e dey insyd parliament, dem appoint am as chairman for de Parliamentary Disciplinary Control Committee. E serve for all dis roles till dem overthrow Nkrumah ein government for February 1966.[7]

[edit | edit source]Akwei marry Mary Akwei on 7 January 1965. Before e marry Mary, Akwei marry den divorce three other women. E marry Madam Zinabu Amidu for 1942 den dem separate for 1948. E get four children plus am. For 1948, Akwei marry Madam Memuna Ahfa, dem get two children together. Dem divorce for 1959. He marry Madam Cecilia Badoo for 1956 den dem get two children together. Dem divorce for 1964.[8]
