Kwesi Plange (1926 – 1953) be Ghanaian politician plus educationist. He be founding member for de Convention People's Party (CPP) den de first headmaster for Ghana National College.[1][2]

Career den politics

He be teacher for St. Augustine's College for Cape Coast but de colonial government terminate ein teaching appointment based on de recommendation wey de Quarshie-Idun Commission give. Dis commission be de one wey dem set up to check de protest wey happen for Cape Coast schools after dem detain "The Big Six" for 1948. Plange plus three other teachers come gather start Ghana National College, wey he come be de first headteacher from 1948 go 1950.[2][3]

Plange active for politics inside Gold Coast. He be member for de United Gold Coast Convention. But when Kwame Nkrumah form de Convention People's Party (CPP) on 12 June 1949, Plange join inside plus become member for de first Central Committee. For 1951, he win seat go legislative assembly to represent Cape Coast municipality under CPP. He be de youngest person for de assembly inside den he push make youth join politics for de Colony. He propose amendment for de Coussey Constitution make dem reduce de voting age from 25 come 21. He be Ministerial Secretary for de Ministry of Local Government den he lead de process wey bring de Local Governance Ordinance.[4][5]

Death

Plange die insyd 1953. He be replaced on de central committee den de legislative council by Nathaniel Azarco Welbeck.
