Mahamadou Danda (born 24 July 1951[1]) be a Nigerien political figure wey dem appoint as Prime Minister of Niger by de Supreme Council for the Restoration of Democracy (CSRD) on 23 February 2010 wey he lef office on 7 April 2011.

Political career
[edit | edit source]Danda start ein work under de regime of Seyni Kountché for de 1970s;[2] For 1979 den 1980, he be Sub- Prefect for Niamey, wey later he serve as Sub-Prefect for Filingué from 1983 reach 1987.[3] After Kountché die, Ali Saibou appoint am enter government on 20 November 1987, wer he serve as Minister for Animal Resources and Hydraulics[4] till 15 July 1988, wen dem remove am from government.[5] After dat, for early 1990s, he work as Administrative Secretary for de National Executive Bureau of de National Movement for the Development of Society (MNSD)[1][6] insyd de early 1990s.[6] Danda still serve small time as Permanent Secretary for de Higher Council of National Orientation.[2]
Multiparty elections happen for Niger for 1993. Later on, Danda serve as Chief Technical Adviser to de Prime Minister for Institutional Issues from 23 December 1997 reach 16 April 1999.[3]
After de April 1999 coup d’état for Niger, Danda wey people dey see am as person wey dey represent civil society[7] de transitional military junta appoint am on 16 April 1999 as Minister for Communication, Culture, Youth and Sports, plus Government Spokesman.[7][8] He remain for ein position as Minister for Communication till de military hand over power give elected government for December 1999.[1][9]

[edit | edit source]Danda, wey dey study for Canada before, dey work as Political Counsellor for Canadian Embassy for Niger (as local staff) wen dem overthrow President Mamadou Tandja for anoda coup on 18 February 2010.[2][3][10] After dat, Salou Djibo, wey be President of de CSRD, appoint Danda as Prime Minister on 23 February;[9][10][11] Buh still, dem no give Danda full power as head of government, secof na Djibo einself still take dat role on top ein own position as head of state.[11]
Danda, wey no dey belong to any political party, people dey see am as neutral person. Dat quality plus ein experience wey make plenty people believe say dat be why dem choose am as Prime Minister.[2] When dem appoint am, Danda talk say he “ask for de necessary guarantees make he sure say he go commit einself to process wey dey lead to a real restoration of democracy".[12]
