Mandisa Makesini (wey dem born am 20 September 1975) be South African politician wey dey serve as Permanent Delegate go National Council of Provinces from Free State since 2024. Before dis, she serve insyd Free State Provincial Legislature den National Assembly of South Africa. Makesini be former provincial chairperson for Economic Freedom Fighters.
Political career
[edit | edit source]Makesini enter Free State Provincial Legislature insyd 2014 general election plus Jacob Tshabalala as two EFF members wey win seat.[1] For EFF ein provincial conference wey happen September 2018, dem elect Makesini as provincial chairperson after she beat de current chairperson, Kgotso Morapela, by three votes. As she win, she talk say dis win mean say patriarchy dey fall.[2]
Dem re-elect Makesini for second term for de provincial legislature insyd 2019.[3] But for November 2022, she no fit win de election again as provincial chairperson—Mapheule Liphoko beat am with 343 votes while she get 278. EFF president Julius Malema no happy say she lose; he blame de delegates say dem no vote for woman to lead again.[4]
Makesini com resign from de provincial legislature insyd January 2023, den Liphoko replace am.[5] Later, dem swear Makesini in as member for National Assembly of South Africa on 8 February 2023.
After de 2024 general election, dem appoint Makesini go National Council of Provinces, wey she now dey represent Free State as de only EFF member wey dey de province ein delegation.[6]
