Maria do Carmo Medina (7 December 1925 – 10 February 2014) be Portuguese-born Angolan human rights defender, pro-Angola independence campaigner, academic, den de first female judge for Luanda Court of Appeal for Angola insyd.[1]

Dat same year, she enroll say she go study law for Lisbon. For ein first year for de faculty of law, she join small group of anti-fascist students, wey later she join opposition movement wey dey campaign for free elections. De first time PIDE call Medina for questioning, na she still be minor. When she graduate for 1948, she no fit find work sake of negative reports wey de Portuguese political police write against am.[1]

Later for dat year insyd, she register as lawyer plus de Luanda Court of Appeal, wey she come turn de first woman wey open law firm for Angola. For de court of appeal, she represent chaw Angolan political prisoners. Dis make dem push am go de lowest levels of civil service, where she dey file petitions den administrative appeals go de colonial authorities den dey defend property rights for Angolan families. Afta Angola get independence for 1975, de government call am say make she help dem draft de fundamental laws of de country, including laws for nationality, civil, family, civil registration, administrative, den criminal law. Between November 1975 den September 1977, Medina serve as Secretary for Legal Affairs for de Presidency of de People's Republic of Angola. For 1976, Medina gain Angolan nationality wey dem appoint am as judge for de Civil Court of Luanda. For 1980, she come turn judge for de Luanda Court of Appeal. For 1982, she work as graduate assistant for de Law Faculty for Agostinho Neto University wey she dey teach family law, until she come turn professor for 1990.[5]
Na she be de vice president of de Supreme Court of Angola for 1990. Dem elect am as chairman of de General Assembly of de Association of Angolan Lawyers for 1990, den for 1995, dem elect am as chairman of de General Assembly of de Angolan Association of Women Lawyers. Medina retire as judge of de Supreme Court of Angola for 1997.[6]
