Mgcini Tshwaku (wey dem born 7 June 1976) be South African politician plus member of de Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) wey e dey serve as de City of Johannesburg ein Member of de Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Safety plus Security since 2023. Before e come serve insyd Johannesburg city council, e be Member of de Gauteng Provincial Legislature between 2014 plus 2017, den Member of de National Assembly of South Africa from 2017 reach 2023.
Education
[edit | edit source]Tshwaku get Bachelor of Science (BSc) insyd Applied Maths, Physics plus Chemistry from de University of Fort Hare, BSc plus Master of Science (MSc) insyd Chemical Engineering from de University of Cape Town. Tshwaku get PhD degree insyd chemical engineering from de University of South Africa.[1]
Political career
[edit | edit source]Tshwaku be de convenor of de Economic Freedom Fighters for Gauteng from 2013 go 2014. For 2014, dem elect am as Member of de Gauteng Provincial Legislature.[2]
Insyd 2017, e resign from de provincial legislature.[3] Dem swear am insyd as member of de National Assembly on 14 November 2017, wey e replace Shadrack Tlhaole. Tshwaku then come be member for de Portfolio Committee on Basic Education plus de Portfolio Committee on Monitoring and Evaluation. For 2018, dem elect am join EFF ein Central Command Team plus War Council.
Tshwaku get re-elect go de National Assembly for 2019.[4] E serve as alternate member for de National Assembly ein Portfolio Committee on Public Works plus Infrastructure, wey e serve from 27th June 2019 go reach 9th February 2023, den e be Member for Portfolio Committee On Trade, Industry plus Competition from 14th April 2022 go 9th February 2023.
On 9 February 2023, Tshwaku resign from Parliament den dem swear am insyd as City of Johannesburg councillor for de EFF. Dem then appoint am as de Member of de Mayoral Committee for Safety plus Security.[5]
