Opoku Afriyie (February 2, 1955 - March 29, 2020) na he be Ghana footballer. Den dem dey bell am Bayie. Den he be be striker wey den times he win plenty trophies plus Asante Kotoko den de Ghana national football team. He sana work for Asante Kotoko as Team-Manager.

Opoku Afriyie play give Kotoko for plenty years, den as he finish he go sign give Heart of Oaks before ein football career finish.[1] Den he be top goal scorer give de Ghana domestic football league for 1979 den 1981.[2] As he go play for France in 1982, dem nominate am for de French magazine as France Football African Footballer of de Year. Wey he chop number 8 for de list top.[3] Den Opoku Afriyie dey among 20 players for Ghana wey get nomination from CAF out of a total number of 200 African footballers for de best African player for de last 50 years.[4]

International Career

Den he be part of de squad wey win de 1978 Africa Cup of Nations wey make Ghana de first team to win am 3-times. As dem play de final tournament, he score 2 goals. Den he sana play in de 1980 African Cup of Nations but den Ghana no fit defend dema title.

Coaching Career

Insyd 2003, dem appoint Opoku as de team manager of Asante Kotoko. He sana serve as team manager plus welfare officer for Black Stars.[1]
